With the effects of global warming already arguably beginning, many parts of the world have been in drought for at least some part of the past decade, and many of those now have permanent water conservation measures in place.
Potable water is expected to become increasingly scarce in coming years, particularly in already dry areas, including much of the United States. So now is the time to begin adaption techniques. These may well include installing rainwater and grey water systems, but they can also include simply learning to use less water. The following tips are a good place to start.
In the Bathroom
- Use a shower timer to help you take shorter showers. This is one of the easiest ways to save significant amounts of water.
- Install a water saver shower head.
- Turn off the water while you wash your hair.
- Use a bucket to collect the run off while you wait for the hot water to flow through, then use the water for cleaning or for watering the garden, or even for flushing the toilet.
- Brush your teeth with the tap off.
- Turn off the tap while you shave - run some hot water into the sink and rinse your razor in that.
- Give both pets and kids very shallow baths.

A fence around the garden serves several purposes, including affording a measure of privacy and protecting the area from animals, as well as enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the property. Many good garden fencing ideas can help meet all of the above requirements while helping to distinguish your home from the other houses on the street. Several ideas are creative and will prove very affordable.
Character can be added to your garden with conventional options such as wire or wood fencing, and can provide an interesting twist of character. Simple chicken wire can be used to delineate the front yard boundary, for instance. Just erect wooden poles at equal distances and staple the wire to the poles. The same fencing can double as a trellis for rambling roses, flowers, vines and other creepers. The plants will camouflage the poles and chicken wire, and will actually grow into a living fence over time that will provide screening and add beauty to your property.
If you live in a coastal or other area with a lot of natural rocks, dry stones can be used for fencing. Add some natural garden water features such as small Lily or lotus ponds, or waterfalls, especially if you live in the countryside and want your garden to have a rustic look that blends in with the area.

While it may be easy for some people to install wallpaper for others the task may be daunting and one that is avoided. There are two ways of looking at how to install wallpaper; the first can look at it as a fun project and the other as a tiring one which should be left to the experts. This article will prove helpful to people who land on both sides of this thinking since it will give the steps on how wallpaper can be put up.
- The most obvious starting point should be in the room where the wallpaper will be placed. Here the room should be looked at as a blank canvas on which décor will be placed. The room should be looked at thoroughly so that its architecture can be identified and analyzed with a particular type of wallpaper in mind. Things like the size and shape of the room should be noticed because they have a great influence on the choice of wallpaper. For instance a large sized room can easily work with a busy design on wallpaper while a small room both in length and height works best with a simple design. This step on deciding how to install wallpaper can then be followed by the selection of appropriate wallpaper as per the conclusions on a room’s architecture.

Kitchen cabinet refacing is a relatively easy and affordable way to give your kitchen a new look, without replacing your cupboards. One way to reface your cupboards is to cover with Formica and then stain, and refacing cupboards is certainly a lot less trouble than tearing them all out and replacing them.
If you are planning to sell your house, it is a good idea to upgrade your kitchen, including the cabinets and lighting. A hanging lighting fixture or something just as stylish will look better than that outdated sixties track lighting that many of us have. A Tiffany glass bulb can be chosen for your new lighting, to match the new cupboards.
Kitchen counters are another area that many homeowners tackle when remodeling their kitchen. Formica is a popular option and is available in different colors and styles, including granite tones.
Kitchen remodeling can be costly and by refacing cabinets, you can save a lot of money. A pendant lighting fixture can add charm and a granite colored Formica counter top can appear more expensive than it actually is. A kitchen fan can not only cool you, it can also add style and some have a light built-in as well. Give some thought to the motif or theme you would like when planning a kitchen makeover; you should also give some thought to the floors and walls.

If you're like most homeowners, no matter how large your kitchen, you could probably use a little extra space for storing things. With a microwave, toaster, other small appliances, food and spices, there is little counter space left to actually prepare food. If you have a small apartment kitchen, there is probably even less space available.
One solution is to put your microwave on a microwave oven stand to not only raise it up to a more desirable height, but also give you extra space for storing things like food and spices. Not to mention more space for cooking meals like your counter was intended.
An alternative solution to microwave stands is a stainless steel microwave cart. Although they solve the same problem, the approach it in entirely different ways. The microwave stand uses the same counter tops that you already have in your kitchen to use the space more efficiently.

The real challenge is in picking out what kind you want because how many types their are to choose from.
- No ugly extension cords - How many times have you gone to a friends home for dinner and seen ugly colored extension cords on their front porch so that they can plug in their patio lights?

If you are shopping for hot tubs, chances are that you will be keen on buying them from the vendor who offers you the best possible price. It is precisely on that account we keep on seeing people shopping for these sorts of tubs undertaking ‘window shopping’ exercises: in a bid to compare what the various vendor have to offer in terms of pricing deals, before settling for any particular dealer.
There are, however, certain cases where prices have to be looked at in ‘relative’ rather than in ‘absolute’ terms. In other words, there are cases where the quoted prices of certain dealers may look high, but where closer examination reveals them to be better deals than where the tubs are sold at much lower prices. Those are, in other words, situations where it may be advisable to pay more for tubs – in spite of there being relatively cheaper hot tubs in the same markets.
Where a vendor offers free installation service. In these cases, you should compare the extra sum of money you have to pay for the tubs with what you’d (alternatively) have to pay a plumber to install one of the cheaper tubs whose vendors don’t offer free installation. More often than not, you will find it better to pay the slightly higher price which is inclusive of installation, than to go for a cheaper hot tub, and then have to pay (a much higher amount of money) for the installation. This is against a background where the vendors who offer installation for their customers tend to do so at remarkably highly subsidized rates
